Surface corrugated laminates as elastic grating couplers: Splitting of SV- and P-waves by selective diffraction

چکیده
The phenomenon of selective diffraction is extended to in-plane elastic waves and we design surface corrugated periodic laminates that incorporate crystal momentum transfer which, due the rich physics embedded within vector system, results in frequency, angle wave-type diffraction. resulting devices are grating couplers, with additional capabilities as compared analogous scalar electromagnetic couplers possess ability split independently redirect, through negative refraction, two body present system: compressional (P) shear-vertical (SV) waves. paradigm, interpretation, aided by obtaining isofrequency contours via a non-dimensionalised matrix method.

Surface-Corrugated Microfiber Bragg Grating
Optical fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) are key devices for optical communication and sensors. FBGs are based on a periodic variation in the refractive index of the fiber core and allow for the reflection of a narrowband signal centered at a specific Bragg wavelength. Over the last two decades, FBGs have been manufactured mainly by modifying the core refractive index using interferometric or point-b...
متن کاملElastic Waves Scattering from Corrugated Metal Interfaces
This is a study of elastic waves diffracted by corrugated metallic surfaces. The corrugations consist of triangular grooves with variable parameters. The results of the narrow band experiments show significant diffraction patterns depending on angle and frequency. In addition, a continuous schlieren system is used to visualize the diffracted orders. Measurements were also carried out using a br...
متن کامل1d-localization of Surface Acoustic Waves by Quasiperiodically Corrugated Surfaces
Specific properties of the propagation of surface acoustic waves on quasiperiodically corrugated solids are reviewed. This problem corresponds to the critical regime of the Anderson localization transition, characterized by critical proper modes which are neither extended nor localized and which exhibit remarkable scaling features. The spectrum is also predicted to have a Cantor-like structure....
متن کاملKapitza-Dirac diffraction without standing waves: diffraction without a grating?
We discuss electron diffraction from two counterpropagating light waves with two different frequencies. We show that, even though these waves do not form a standing wave, electron diffraction similar to the conventional Kapitza-Dirac effect, i.e., scattering on a standing wave, is still possible. The nonlinear response of the electron to the laser fields creates a stationary diffraction grating...
